Your rights under EC 261
If your flight departed from an EU airport — or from a non-EU airport on an EU carrier — you are protected. Most claims are settled within 3 months.
Delayed 3+ hours
If you arrived at your final destination 3 or more hours late, you can claim up to €600 depending on flight distance.
Cancelled without notice
If the airline cancelled your flight less than 14 days before departure, you are entitled to compensation plus a full refund or rerouting.
Denied boarding
If you were denied boarding due to overbooking and you did not volunteer, you get the same compensation as for a cancellation.
Up to 3 years back
Most EU states let you claim for flights up to 3 years in the past — even if the airline told you otherwise at the time.
